Building community through stories and history.

The furniture's intent was to create spaces to gather, work and learn in settings as comfortable as home. Working with the client and Kasian to complete the vision for the library together we selected furniture and finish options to enhance the function of each setting. Modular furniture selections ensure the library can evolve, grow and adapt to suit the needs of the community. Finishes include soft lines, natural wood, and durable yet comfortable materials.

The library serves as a key gathering place for the people of Stony Plain while reinforcing the town’s Main Street and preserving cultural history. Users hold events, learn, gather, and reinforce relationships in the new space.

To celebrate the gratitude and respect for the land and culture of Treaty 6, Elders performed a blessing at the opening of the library. The library is actively committed to expanding its Indigenous programming.
